Our New Truck-Trailer!

02/02/2012 - Staff

It all started in 2011 with several missed grant opportunities to secure a new truck and trailer.   Then the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation gave our efforts a BIG BOOST with a $32,000 grant to purchase a new truck.  After carefully sizing up the market and waiting for end of year model prices to dip lower, Donna found just the right vehicle at Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton!

Then it was time to look for just the right trailer to complete the package!  Donna searched high and low for months, not being willing to settle for less than all the right features and the best brand.  In January she found a dealer in Alabama who was selling new Sundowner trailers for thousands less than any place in Florida!  Not wasting a moment, she drove to Alabama and purchased our new 3-horse Sundowner trailer and returned the very next day!

We just need to get our logo’s on both vehicles!  Next week is our program at Oak Park School and we’ll be ready.  Thanks to everyone who played a part in helping us upgrade the safety, fuel efficiency, and comfort for Sue, our volunteers and our horses.  Now, if we could only find someone to donate wrapping our truck/trailer with really cool scenes about our riders and horses….. stay tuned!
