of InStride

At the core of out thereapeutic riding program you'll find our therapy horses - very special animals chosen for their movement, size and temperment. Once acquired, each program horse is trained and acclimated to its new environment. When fully comfortable with the surroundings - at ease with the sounds of wheelchairs and children and with the mounts and dismounts done from a special ramp - they are ready to assume the role of therapist. Not the easiest of jobs, but it has its rewards. Gentle pats and big hugs from grateful riders!

Of course, it takes more than love and snacks to keep horses healthy and happy. It takes money. Averaging half a ton apiece, these active, working horses are good eaters, and we feed them well! They require farrier services and veterinary care; blankets and bedding. Which is where YOU come in. Our "Adopt-a-Horse" program needs your sponsorship!

For $3,000 you can support a horse for an entire year. You can even choose a particular horse if available or donate to their general care.  And, we hope you'll visit InStride and view the work you make possible through your adoption. InStride’s Horses…

Introducing our team of therapy horses! These specially trained horses are a vital part of our hippotherapy program. Each horse typically helps 50+ riders annually and provides more than 400 1/2 hour therapy sessions.  By adopting one of these very special animals, you can enjoy the satisfaction of helping many special riders through InStride’s unique programs.
